Falken Develops Custom AZENIS FK520 Tyres for New Porsche Cayenne Electric

Falken has announced the development of a bespoke Ultra High Performance tyre, the AZENIS FK520, specifically engineered for the upcoming Porsche Cayenne Electric. This partnership highlights the increasing demand for specialized original equipment that can handle the unique weight and torque profiles of high-performance electric SUVs. By optimizing rolling resistance and traction, these tyres aim to enhance both the driving range and the handling characteristics of Porsche’s latest battery-electric model.

Falken’s new AZENIS FK520 (NG0) tyre has been officially approved as original equipment for the Porsche Cayenne Electric, marking a significant expansion of the long-standing collaboration between the two companies. The tyre features a staggered configuration, utilizing 255/55 R20 110Y XL tyres for the front and 305/45 R20 116Y XL tyres for the rear. This bespoke version carries Porsche’s exclusive NG0 marking, signifying that the product has been jointly developed, tested, and homologated to meet the specific performance and safety standards required for factory fitment on the electric SUV.

Engineered as an Ultra High Performance (UHP) solution, the AZENIS FK520 incorporates an optimized rubber compound designed to minimize rolling resistance, a critical factor for extending the driving range of electric vehicles. The tyre's architecture is specifically reinforced to manage the instant torque and substantial weight inherent to electric powertrains, ensuring efficient power transfer and high-speed stability. Rated for speeds up to 300 km/h (186 mph), the tyre is intended to complement the Cayenne Electric’s chassis tuning to provide the agility and steering precision expected of a premium performance vehicle.

The development of the NG0-marked tyre reinforces Falken’s position in the high-performance battery-electric SUV segment and continues a partnership that dates back to 2011. Beyond road cars like the Porsche Macan, which was fitted with Falken tyres in 2019, the two brands have a history in motorsport, including competitions at the Nürburgring 24 Hours.
