White House to host quantum tech summit with industry Tuesday

This gathering is significant for the quantum sector as it aligns government agency commitments with industry needs to strengthen the national technological ecosystem.

The White House Summit on Quantum Innovation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, bringing together government officials and leaders from the U.S. quantum information science and technology industry. Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Brad Blakestand, Director of the National Quantum Coordination Office, are set to deliver a keynote address. Their remarks will focus on providing critical updates regarding the administration’s quantum agenda and the current state of research and development within the field.

High-level leadership from several federal agencies will participate to detail how their respective departments are fulfilling commitments to quantum innovation. Scheduled speakers include Department of Commerce Deputy Secretary Paul Dabbar, Department of Defense Under Secretary for Research Emil Michael, and Department of Energy Under Secretary Darío Gil. Additionally, National Science Foundation Acting Director Brian Stone and U.S. Chief Technology Officer Ethan Klein will contribute to discussions on the federal role in advancing these emerging technologies.

The summit serves as a follow-up to two recent executive orders issued by President Donald Trump, which were designed to bolster the U.S. quantum research ecosystem and accelerate the transition of critical networks to post-quantum cryptographic standards.
