Alimentaria FoodTech 2026 to Showcase Innovation and Strategic Business Opportunities in Barcelona

Alimentaria FoodTech 2026 is scheduled for October 6–8 at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue, positioning itself as a central hub for the foodtech and packaging ecosystems. The event will feature nearly 400 exhibitors and 30 startups focusing on disruptive solutions across the entire food production chain, from processing and conservation to distribution. For the packaging sector, the fair serves as a vital platform for discovering advancements in automation, sustainable machinery, and digitalization aimed at improving industrial efficiency.

The 2026 edition of Alimentaria FoodTech will host a wide array of industry leaders, including Tetra Pak, ULMA, Bizerba, Hiperbaric, and Handtmann, who will demonstrate their latest technological equipment and solutions. Albert Puxan, president of the event, noted that the show is a strategic meeting point designed to promote the modernization of the food technology industry through knowledge exchange and new business opportunities. The exhibition will cover every phase of the production process, emphasizing the role of technology in navigating a context of profound market transformation.

Innovation at the fair will focus heavily on machinery, automation, and digitalization, which are critical for developing safer and more sustainable production environments. A highlight of the event will be the showcase of collaborative robotics, featuring systems engineered to work alongside human operators to enhance both productivity and safety standards. Furthermore, the ingredients area will feature approximately 40 companies presenting additives and intermediate solutions that align with modern demands for quality and food safety, providing a comprehensive view of the industry's evolution.

International expansion is a key priority for the 2026 show, with 20% of exhibitors coming from 15 different countries, including Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Turkey. Morocco has been designated as the guest country of honor to bolster commercial and technological relations, supported by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Casablanca. To drive business growth, the Hosted Buyers program, in collaboration with ICEX and FIAB, aims to facilitate 900 meetings between exhibitors and 100 strategic buyers from over 25 countries. The event will also introduce the FoodTech Award for Scientific Merit to recognize experts developing advanced technologies for food preservation and production.
