Fragomen and SICPA form JV to join digital identity market with end-to-end platform

Fragomen and SICPA have established a global joint venture to launch an end-to-end digital identity platform catering to governments, enterprises, and individuals. The partnership combines Fragomen’s expertise in workforce mobility with SICPA’s infrastructure for credential issuance to offer identity verification, document authentication, and digital wallet services. This collaboration marks a strategic move to streamline cross-border identity management and enhance digital trust within the global verification ecosystem.

Fragomen, a U.S.-headquartered immigration services provider, and Switzerland-based secure printing firm SICPA have combined forces to create an independent digital identity business. The joint venture aims to build a comprehensive platform that integrates identity verification and document authentication capabilities with digital wallets and verifiable credential management. SICPA’s background includes participation in high-profile projects like the EU Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet pilot and IATA’s One ID trials, providing a robust technical foundation for the new venture.

The platform is designed to facilitate secure ID management and information sharing across diverse digital environments and international borders. Target markets for the new solution include workforce mobility, travel and tourism, hospitality, education, and identity and access management (IAM). Fragomen Co-Chair Lance Kaplan noted that the investment in this technology is intended to reduce friction in global mobility and compliance processes by connecting government-issued credentials with enterprise workflows.

Headquartered at SICPA’s Swiss campus, the new company plans to scale its operations globally through strategic partnerships and the establishment of international subsidiaries. The partners emphasize that the future of digital trust depends on making document verification more portable and user-friendly for both businesses and individuals. By leveraging SICPA’s software portfolio and Fragomen’s compliance expertise, the venture seeks to address the growing demand for secure document digitalization and humanitarian program support.
