Planet DDS has released its 2026 Dental Industry Outlook, an annual benchmark report designed to help dental organizations measure operational performance and identify growth opportunities. The report indicates a positive trend in the sector, highlighting improvements in treatment completion rates and patient reliability across more than 15,000 practices. These findings suggest that the industry is moving toward more predictable revenue models driven by enhanced patient engagement and technological integration.

The 2026 Dental Industry Outlook reveals that practices are significantly improving their ability to convert planned care into completed treatments, with case completion rates rising from 42 percent to 47 percent year-over-year. This gain points to healthier revenue streams and more stable production schedules for dental organizations heading into the new year. The report's findings are based on an extensive analysis of data from the Denticon platform, which includes general, specialty, emergency, and mobile dentistry clinics.

Patient engagement has become a critical factor for success, as evidenced by a 17 percent drop in cancellations and a continued decline in patient no-show rates. Planet DDS attributes these improvements to a shift toward proactive communication and advanced scheduling systems that simplify the follow-through process for patients. Mike Huffaker, Chief Revenue Officer of Planet DDS, noted that these operational metrics provide a clear baseline for Dental Support Organizations (DSOs) to prioritize workflows that drive tangible results.

The report underscores the role of technology in establishing new operational standards, particularly through the use of repeatable, AI-driven workflows that minimize manual effort and human error. Planet DDS, which supports more than 14,500 practices and 175,000 users, emphasizes that organizations moving away from fragmented legacy tools are seeing the most significant gains.
