Peter Vanacker, the Chief Executive Officer of LyondellBasell (LYB), is scheduled to receive the CME STEM Leadership Award for Corporate Reinvention on December 11, 2026, in New York City. CME leadership, including Co-Chairs Shah Karim and Ksenia Takhistova, noted that Vanacker exemplifies corporate reinvention through his focus on value enhancement and the bold expansion of circular solutions. The award highlights Vanacker’s role in positioning the global chemical leader for long-term performance by integrating science and engineering with sustainable business practices. He will be honored at the event alongside 2025 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Omar Yaghi and Metropolitan Opera Board Chairman Ann Ziff.

He currently holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Ghent and serves as the chair of the board of directors for the American Chemistry Council (ACC). His influence extends across the sector through his involvement with the International Consortium of Chemical Associations and his seat on the supervisory board of Symrise AG.
